Mac Book Air - It's not about the product....

So the first thing that everyone has done with the Mac Book Air is start ripping on how it doesn't have this or doesn't have that. I would like to point out one thing.

If you have noticed, with Apple it seems that it's not so much about the product but it's how they try to change the way you think about the product. I will give you an example. iPod. Before the iPod who in their right mind would have purchased a movie and watched it on a 3 inch monitor? Using the reasoning some have used regarding the lack of this or lack of that on the Mac Air, the iPod should have been the size of a cigar box.

Here is another example, iPhone. It's not about the phone call (but that's the primary function) its about providing a platform to do other stuff. Looking at how the Newton failed and learning some lessons from that. Don't do hand writing recognition or some type of short hand like Palm. Go natural with gestures for getting through the interface and don't limit the device with a stupid keyboard that just takes up room and power. Touch screen.

So, the point I want to make....before you start jumping on the "that's just dumb because it doesn't have this feature" think about what purpose is this device to be used for. I would also recommend everyone watch the 2008 Keynote from Mac World. It explains the thoughts behind the products.

Why are we so interested in the Election this time around....

Who has ever cared about the caucus? I mean the politicians do and the people who are voting do. But to me as an American this whole thing doesn't get interesting until about a month before the election.

Why all the interest? Some would say it's because we are due for a major change. So say we are interested because of mis-step in foreign policies. I say NO to all those theories. Here is the real reason. The writers strike. That's right, the writers have been on strike and regular TV has turned into boring pit of re-runs. So, what's the best and freshest reality show on the air? You got it....the elections.

Interesting problem

I own a Sharp LC-19DV12U LCD Television with a built in DVD player. This little TV is wall mounted in my home gym and I use it and really like the picture on it. It's a great little TV. I purchased it from Costco along with the wall mount kit. Well tonight, I was trying to change the DVD and it will not eject the DVD.

I went out to SharpUSA.com and down loaded the manual because the one that came with it was not handy. Searched the PDF but no luck in finding the magical button combination that would just eject the DVD.

So I fired off a support e-mail at around 7:30pm this evening. Let's see how this goes and what type of response I get.

UPDATE:  I received a response from support at 11:34am this morning.  They say to unplug the TV for 5 minutes and then plug it back in.  If that doesn't work then I must call Sharp and arrange a service visit.

UPDATE:  Well Holy smokes, it worked.

Angelina Jolie in Pushing Tin

I never read the book that Pushing Tin was based off of, but what type of accent is that suppose to be?
