When the concept of residual self image goes bad...

In the move The Matrix, Morphius talks about "residual self image" when he and Neo load themselves into the training sim program. Neo realizes that the plugs in his head and body had disappeared.

Throughout the whole movie, every time someone goes into the Matrix they are dressed in ultra cool clothes and look just sharp. What if you have a bad residual self image? Would you end up in the Matrix looking like Elton John in golf pants?

Just a thought.

Michael Jackson - I can't help it

OK, let me lay the ground work here. I have never watched an entire episode of Survivor, American idol or Desperate Housewives. The Network TV shows I watch are Scrubs, The Office, CSI and sometimes CSI: Miami. I guess I just wanted to say that I'm not a reality TV person.

But dam it, I can't help but read everything I see about the Michael Jackson case. I don't know if judges are allowed to write memoirs about there days on the bench. But I wonder what goes through the head of a judge during this trial.

Ephedra Ban overturn

Just a quick thought. While we all get upset and up in arms over Ephedra and how to "protect the childern". Just consider this. There where 2,443,908 deaths in the US in 2004. All the news stories about Ephedra us the "linked to more than 150 deaths" claim. If all 150 deaths happened in one year that's only 0.006% of total deaths.

It is estimated that Cigarette smoking and "effects of" claim an estimated 390,000 per year in the US. That's about 15.9%.

Show me the money....

I got the fever for the flavor of some cow bell

The Disco era has long since left us. But yesterday on my drive home I was sampling some tunes. I stumbled upon one of my favorites by a group named Lipps Inc. Funky Town has perhaps the best use of a cow bell that I have ever heard. And trust me, it's not just a steady thump, there is someone working that thing over.

So the next time you catch it. Just sample the honey dripping sounds of that cow bell.

PS. This song was also performed in 1987 by the group Psuedo Echo

The El Camino of my generation

The Chevy Avalache is the El Camino of my generation without the racial overtones.

Billie Jean Invaders

I'm a big fan of XMRadio and this morning as I was driving in I was listening to the 80's channel. The song Billie Jean came on and I noticed something. The bass line of that song sounds like the march of the aliens in Space Invaders.

DNS cache poisoning is BAD

For those of you who do not keep up with the latest computer security events here is a "New Flash". It seems that some of the folks who run DNS on Windows machines have been having issues over the past couple of days with DNS cache poisoning. For those who don't know, DNS is like a phone book of the Internet. As we all know computers like numbers and we like names. So DNS translates those cool Dot-Com names to a number (IP address). Some vulnerable NT machines (NT and 2000) have a setting left on by default that allows someone to feed it bogus info and corrupt the DNS cache.

So if you wanted to go to American Express website you redirected to another web site.

Note to myself

Here is a cool blog: http://thelastnail.blogspot.com/

I need to add this to my RSS reader.

I'm friggin tired of being sick

Let me recap the month of May:

Strep Throat

Stomach Flu

Cold

In fact, I've been to the doctor more times in this last month, for appointments, followups, etc., than I have in the last 2 years combined.

Not to mention the fact that I had to get 1 filling repaired and another put in from the Dentist. Needless to say, I'm a little tired of feeling like crap. I'm hoping April will be much, much better.
